Guitar Hero: On Tour

Guitar Hero: On Tour just released in America (we in the UK are still waiting), and if you're like me you are ready to get to the nearest game store, tuck and roll out of the car, and rush in to buy this little gem. The sheer novelty of it is enough to warrant buying it for myself, but what about you? How badly do you feel the need to rock out on the go?

On Tour features a unique grip that plugs into the GBA slot on your nintendo DS. Unlike the regular Guitar Hero guitar, this grip features only four of the five buttons. Also included in your pack is a pick with which to strum the guitar on the touch screen (because they didn't expect you to rock out with the regular stylus!). On Tour has, in total, a playlist of 25 songs. Activision has already released 15 of the 25 songs available, and they are:

  • * "Do What You Want" -- OK Go
  • * "All The Small Things" -- Blink 182
  • * "Spiderwebs" -- No Doubt
  • * "Are You Gona Be My Girl" -- Jet
  • * "We're Not Gonna Take It" -- Twisted Sister
  • * "All Star" -- Smash Mouth
  • * "Breed" -- Nirvana
  • * "Jessie's Girl" -- Rick Springfield
  • * "Hit Me With Your Best Shot" -- Pat Benatar
  • * "This Love" -- Maroon 5
  • * "Heaven" -- Los Lonely Boys
  • * "Helicopter" -- Bloc Party
  • * "China Grove" -- The Doobie Brothers
  • * "Rock and Roll All Nite" -- KISS (cover by Line 6)
  • * "What I Want" -- Daughtry

Admittingly, I was slightly underwhelmed when I saw this list, as I was hoping for more 80's rock titles as I had come to appreciate playing in Guitar Hero 3. And really, who considers Ok Go to be of any merit to warrant sticking one of their songs into the game? However, I am still holding out the next ten songs yet to be revealed will be very good tracks.

Now, the following is an AD that explains how to play Guitar Hero on Tour and also explains some of the features. If you can ignore the ambiguously gay man with the eyeliner, you'll find this informative:

I was relieved they mentioned you could hit a button for star power rather than shout "rock out!" into the mic, largely due to the fact that just because I wanna rock out on the go doesn't mean I want to look like a twat in public. But all in all, it looks to be very well done and worth a good bit of fun and amusement, and it looks as if they utilized most if not all of the DS's unique abilities. The game is going to cost you 50 bucks though, which is steep for a NDS game. In my opinion, however, I think it will be worth the cost. You will find this game on sale in America. But if you're like me and in the UK, you'll just have to wait until Jul 18th for this baby!Related Links
